Welcome to Zion Lutheran Church

Our congregation works to welcome all people into our community of faith. We hope that you find us friendly and helpful as you join us for worship on Sundays at 9:30 am, but don’t hesitate to ask questions if are not sure what to do. Going to a new worship service can be a bit overwhelming. Ushers and a worship coordinator are available every week to assist you in making your worship experience pleasant and stress free.

  • If you are new and visiting for the first time be aware there is a parking lot to the northeast of the building, which you can access from the west on Johnson Street or from the east on Dodge Street. There is also parking on Sunday mornings across Bloomington Street in the Mercy Hospital parking lot.

  • The most accessible entrances are on the west and east side of the building, both are handicap accessible. There is an elevator to all floors in the west side entrance. Worship is on the 1st floor.

  • When you enter the building there is a main hall, that will take you to our worship sanctuary on the east side of the building.

  • If you are coming during the week the offices are at the other end of the hall on the west side of the building. Free 15 minute parking is available right in front of the east entrance any day of the week.

  • There are activity boxes for children in the hall next to the worship sanctuary. There is also a staffed nursery available in the lower level for those with younger children that need a little extra attention.

  • Is provided at 8:30 am most Sundays prior to worship at 9:30 am. Learn more about Sunday School

  • All baptized Christians are welcome to participate in Holy Communion. Gluten-free wafers are provided, please let the server know if you would prefer those. There is both wine and grape juice available, the wine is red and the grape juice is white, you choose what you would prefer.

  • Devices are available for all who would like one, please ask an usher to assist you in setting it up and using it.

  • These are available for those who would prefer a larger print for a better reading experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Worship at Zion is traditional Lutheran, with special music from the choir, or the Flutes, Bell or Brass ensemble. Preaching scripture is taken from the Revised Common Lectionary, following the practice of many main-line denominations. There is weekly Holy Communion for any baptized individuals. Children are welcome and activity boxes are available for any age child to use. If you have any questions do not hesitate to talk to an usher or the worship coordinator volunteer for the day.

  • If you would like to plan a baptism for your child or as an adult please contact the office through phone or email. They will share your information with Pastor Marsha who will reach out to you to set up a date to meet and discuss your baptism, as well as work with you to select a date for the baptism. Any no-baptized person is welcome to be baptized at Zion, even if you attend a church someplace else.
